Upcoming Events

With Every Christmas Card I Write returns to Randall Theatre December 18, 2021

With Every Christmas Card I Write, a heartwarming musical review about the magic of Christmas, will play at Medford's Randall Theatre on December 18 at 2 PM. This show features the most beloved Christmas songs; blending live performance and big screen multimedia.  It is also something of a mystery.

When an unusual Christmas card appears, Lauren tries to discover its origins by searching through cards from her past.  The images inspire her to sing such numbers as “Winter Wonderland,” “Silver Bells” “Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer,” and other holiday favorites. As she performs onstage, the movie features the artwork of Norman Rockwell, Currier & Ives, and Christmas cards throughout the decades. The first card was printed in 1843.

At the end of the show, she finally discovers the dramatic story behind the mystery card. It is over a hundred years old and comes directly from the time and place of a real life Christmas miracle.

With Every Christmas Card I Write first opened in 2015 and has become a beloved holiday tradition around the Rogue Valley.

Lauren James, who headlines the show, is well known to local audiences. She has been performing professionally in the Northwest since the age of 17. As an accomplished pianist and singer, she has entertained audiences in many venues, including Carnegie Hall (as soloist). She is also a music teacher and music director. She was co-host of the Morning Show on a radio station in Roseburg, her home town.

The script was written by Gold Hill playwright Edward Miller. Prior to his work with Waiting Star Productions, Ed worked as a reporter, photographer and graphic artist for a Bay Area magazine. His first produced play, A Night in Egypt, was produced twice in the San Francisco Bay Area and may soon be revived.

Lauren and Ed also created the highly successful shows The Greatest Generation—A Musical Tribute and In the Days of Teddy Roosevelt.

Ed and Lauren’s full musical, Waiting Star is scheduled to open in Medford’s Randall Theatre on August 5, 2022.

Just Completed!

The Road to Egypt

Old Hollywood lives again in one of the zaniest shows to come along in years! Here’s your chance to laugh, fall in love, and share a time-travel adventure you’ll never forget. It begins when a famous soothsayer (famous as the world’s worst) hopes to redeem his reputation by bringing back two 20th century Americans to ancient Egypt.

After he casts the forbidden spell, two buddies are carried back in time, and it becomes complicated when Cleopatra falls in love with one of them. Instead of “Antony and Cleopatra,” will it instead be “Bob and Cleopatra”?

The show is sprinkled with hints of Mae West, Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, Dorothy Lamour, Humphrey Bogart, James Cagney, and Jimmy Durante.

The music is upbeat and fun—the opening number is “What Do You

Give a Girl Who’s Had Everybody.” And there is some tender and

romantic music as well.

Two early versions of the show were brought before delighted San Francisco Bay Area audiences and The Road to Egypt is now ready for its Road to Broadway!
